My research centres on how capital expands into agrarian countrysides through speculative real estate and land markets. I focus on political-economic anthropology, including land relations, agrarian change, dispossession, value, speculation, and material culture.
For my thesis, “The Lives of Land: Abstraction and Accumulation in Peri-Urban Kolkata,” I researched land and accumulation in peri-urban Kolkata. I’ve conducted fieldwork in peri-urban Haryana and West Bengal, and as an Anthropology Student Ambassador at LSE Students' Union (LSESU), I lead outreach and engagement work to increase programme participation and enrolment.
