Pooja Maurya
@poojamaurya
PhD materials scientist specializing in additive manufacturing, computer vision, and AI.
What I'm looking for
I am a PhD materials scientist with over ten years of engineering experience focused on additive manufacturing, materials characterization, and applied computer vision for high-resolution materials images.
My doctoral work at Carnegie Mellon developed supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised computer vision pipelines to quantify defects in binder-jet printed steels, integrating microscopy, XRD, CT data and high-performance computing.
I have industry experience designing and prototyping metal additive parts and DFAM guidelines at Apple, and operational process control experience from a production role in aluminum potline operations.
I communicate technical results through peer-reviewed publications, conference talks, and guest lectures, and I collaborate across mechanical and electrical engineering teams to deliver real-time defect monitoring and camera-actuated feedback systems.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Developed and tuned prompts for LLMs specific to materials science and computer vision, and evaluated and revised model responses to improve domain relevance and accuracy.
