Omar Fayyaz
@omarfayyaz
Bioinformatics student and full-stack developer building ML-driven health tools and scalable web apps.
What I'm looking for
I am a Bioinformatics and Computational Biology honors student with a minor in Computer Science, passionate about applying machine learning and full-stack development to health-tech problems. I combine hands-on ML model building with production-ready web engineering to deliver usable tools.
My projects include a high-accuracy oral cancer survival predictor—containerized with Docker and evaluated across multiple models—and ReadView, a full-stack social content platform deployed on Render using Ruby on Rails, Devise/OmniAuth, ActiveStorage, Turbo Streams, Sidekiq, and Redis. These experiences demonstrate strong model evaluation, feature selection, and scalable deployment skills.
Alongside technical work, I bring customer-facing experience at a national nonprofit, where I manage sensitive data, high call volumes, and logistics coordination. I mentor peers and value clear communication, reliability, and building products that serve real user needs.
