I build quantitative viral particle assays to uncover mechanisms of enveloped-virus assembly and release.
What I'm looking for
I'm developing quantitative Ebola virus VP40 VLP assays at Nagasaki University to show how Rho-family GTPase signaling controls enveloped-virus assembly and release. My work integrates Western blotting, confocal microscopy, genetic perturbation, and pharmacological inhibition to connect host signaling with particle phenotypes.
During my PhD at Kyoto University, I optimized avian bornavirus reverse-genetics workflows, cutting viral rescue time by approximately 50% and consistently recovering high-titer virus. I generated more than 100 infectious chimeric viruses to investigate viral replication, host range, and 5′ UTR-mediated regulation.
I've also contributed to cryo-EM single-particle analysis of orthobornavirus replication machinery and established reverse-genetics workflows with collaborators at the University of Guelph.
Earlier at National Taiwan University, I coordinated a nationwide parrot bornavirus serological study processing 400+ specimens, developed diagnostic capabilities, and ran viral pathogenesis and antiviral-efficacy studies. I bring veterinary and virology training, reproducible assay development, and experience mentoring undergraduate researchers.
