What I'm looking for

A hands-on senior backend role — PHP, Laravel or Magento 2 — fully remote from Poland (CET), B2B/contractor. Ex-CTO who deliberately returned to building. Happiest in teams that take AI-assisted engineering seriously: I work with Claude Code daily.

Backend engineer with 14 years in PHP — Laravel since 2013, Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce for the last 4+ years: custom modules and payment/shipping integrations for UK retail clients at Tom&Co.

At Cognize (Jun–Sep 2026) I designed and shipped two PHP/Symfony platforms: a Google-SSO client-environment registry with automated health checks, and a Magento upgrade-readiness portal scanning 400+ modules for PHP compatibility, CVEs and code quality.

At STATSCORE I went from developer through System Architect and CTO to Technology Leader of a 10+ team — then deliberately returned to hands-on work. I migrated SportsAPI from Laravel to Lumen, cutting server costs by ~30%, and introduced RabbitMQ-based asynchronous ingestion of real-time match data. Earlier, at iPresso, I built a Zapier-style integration hub and a mass-messaging microservice used by clients such as LOT Polish Airlines, eSky and Nutricia.

I have worked with AI coding assistants daily for three years — first Augment Code, now Claude Code: my own Skills and hooks, agent configuration, MCP integrations; 9 Anthropic certifications. Open source: Ordo, a marketing automation engine with LLM integration (github.com/michalper/ordo), and a DDD invoicing module with 127 tests and full CI built in one day (github.com/michalper/laravel-ddd-invoices).
