@melaniefields
Special education teacher and educator focused on reading intervention and student success.
What I'm looking for
I’m an ESE Specialist and Special Education Teacher who provides grade level and specialized instruction in reading-language arts, math, independent functioning, and behavior in a Resource setting using the Pull-Out method. I collaborate with the IEP to coordinate meetings, keep paperwork in compliance with district and state laws and policies, and support students with a range of disabilities. I also serve as a Response to Intervention facilitator and teach reading intervention for students retained in third grade.
I’m driven by practice, high expectations, and encouragement, and I’ve built a career around helping students and colleagues succeed. I’ve written grants totaling over $50,000 and authored the UNISIG grant to order curriculum and supplies that improve learning and motivation. I’ve also led and supported school initiatives as Team Leader for the special education department, served as 21st Century Community Learning Center Site Coordinator (January 2019 to July 2024), and helped train teachers and teacher assistants on best practices for students with disabilities—backed by a Doctoral degree in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership.
