Marysela Zamora-Villalobos

I've led Costa Rica's international film strategy as Film Commissioner and created the Costa Rica Media Market, connecting Latin American projects and emerging talent with global buyers, platforms, studios, distributors, and festivals.

I founded and led Fantastic Lab with Sitges Film Festival, Fantastic Pavilion, and Grupo Morbido, selecting projects for development and international exposure; two secured financing and co-production partnerships. I also supported more than 200 international film, television, documentary, and commercial productions, including projects from Warner Bros. Discovery, ITV/Hulu, BBC, RAI Italia, Hearst Media, and Universal.

Through Nosotras: Women Connecting, I built a multi-country storytelling and social-impact platform that reached 129M+ people and developed campaigns, live experiences, and community programs with UNICEF, UN Women, UNDP, UNHCR, and IOM. I co-led the Menstrual Justice Law 22.421 campaign, contributing to unanimous legislative approval and earning 20+ international creative awards, including Silver and Bronze Cannes Lions.

I've executive produced 30+ creative projects across audiovisual content, theatre, festivals, and live entertainment, and previously led Costa Rica's National Theatre Company. I bring creative judgment, regional industry relationships, and a practical understanding of how to develop ambitious Latin American stories from concept to audience.
