What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a hands-on research role where I can contribute to neurodegeneration and cancer therapeutics, strengthen my lab skills, and collaborate with a supportive team. I also want opportunities to grow toward translational impact.

I’m a Bachelor of Science student at New York University Abu Dhabi in Biology with a Premedical and Health Studies track and Brain and Cognitive Science specialization. My goal is to translate rigorous scientific work into meaningful health outcomes—especially where neurodegeneration and cancer intersect.

In the Magzoub Lab, I work as a laboratory assistant and capstone student to help develop innovative therapeutics for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases using protein mimetics and cell-penetrating peptides. I also develop drug delivery systems using nanoparticles for targeted Alzheimer’s disease treatment, combining careful lab execution with a strong focus on translational impact.

My research experience extends to mitochondrial dysfunction and neurodegeneration through my role at Weil Cornell Medical School. I maintain cell cultures, perform mitochondrial respiration assays to assess OXPHOS function, run Western Blotting to evaluate key OXPHOS-related proteins and genes, and generate graphs and figures to support reports and presentations. I also supported brain-section slicing, immunohistochemistry, microscopy slide preparation and analysis, and DNA extractions at the NISE Lab at uOttawa.

Outside the lab, I strengthen my communication and student-centered mindset through tutoring and teaching. I provide one-on-one online tutoring for high school students across STEM and languages, and I’ve served as a Teacher Assistant for French—preparing mock tests, planning recitation, collaborating on learning objectives, and correcting homework and exams. As an Admissions Ambassador and through campus roles, I’ve built confidence in public speaking, cross-cultural communication, and event coordination, while leading with empathy and teamwork.
