Laura Valentina Chavez Ramos

I’m a Colombian lawyer building practical policy and legal solutions at the intersection of regulation, human rights, and international cooperation. As a legal assistant for the House of Representative, I assess regulatory and economic impacts by coordinating legislative proposals and public policies with government agencies and international institutions.

I represent the Representative’s office in technical and legislative cooperation forums, including meetings with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), embassies, and government entities. I also manage the agenda—coordinating meetings, multisectoral working groups, and inter-institutional relations with a participatory and gender-based approach to support women’s organizations, social leaders, and land defenders.

Before that, I strengthened institutional work through legal assistance at the Dirección General Marítima (DIMAR), analyzing international agreement documents and researching updates in international maritime law to support management. I’m currently pursuing a Master on International Law, and I’ve worked as a lawyer advising work visa procedures, implementing data protection and regulatory compliance programs (SAGRILAFT, PTEE), and drafting corporate, tax, and labor law opinions.
