Kimberly Careau
@kimberlycareau
Copy editor and educational content developer with 13+ years helping educators create clear, learner-centered curriculum.
What I'm looking for
I’m a copy editor, writer, and former college English instructor with 13+ years in higher education, focused on developing and refining instructional content. I strengthen clarity, structure, tone, and readability while preserving the author’s voice and the learner’s instructional intent.
Across my roles, I collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to produce accurate, engaging, learner-centered materials. I evaluate outcomes, support continuous improvement, and build resources that help people understand complex ideas and apply them confidently.
As an Assistant Director for a literacy-focused organization, I supported adult literacy, workforce readiness, and educational programming by developing and editing instructional materials and helping drive grant-related educational initiatives. I also founded and developed The Dismas Project, creating the Jails to Jobs curriculum to support justice-involved individuals’ reentry and employment, and continuously evaluating program effectiveness.
Earlier in my career as a college instructor, I designed, wrote, edited, and refined curriculum, instructional materials, assignments, and assessment tools for traditional, online, and hybrid courses. I approach every project with a commitment to communication, stakeholder collaboration, and practical learning—so content works for real students and real outcomes.
