Alayna Cohen
@alaynacohen
I build accurate, accessible editorial systems for complex content across publishing, web, and legal work.
What I'm looking for
I've built nearly 20 years of editorial experience across educational and scholarly publishing, higher education, digital marketing, web content, and legal subject matter.
At National Geographic Learning, I development edited Grammar Explorer and Grammar in Context, two best-selling ESL grammar series, supervised freelance writers and editors, and completed final editorial review of printer-ready proofs. At UMass Amherst, I copyedited content for 14 College websites and built an editorial content-management system to manage the migration at scale.
Most recently, I wrote and managed high-volume digital content for Grapevine's nationwide dental-client portfolio, translating complex medical information into clear, patient-friendly copy. I also coordinated 15 election-technology RFP/RFI responses at Election Systems & Software, contributing to a win rate above 50% and more than $3.5 million in resulting procurement.
I'm known for the editorial judgment to protect author voice while improving clarity, accuracy, accessibility, and respectful representation. I'm ready to lead a team, develop writers and editors, and build standards and systems that make excellent work repeatable.
