Julian Ssonko

I’m a Uganda-based software developer and current Computer Science student who builds web products and applied AI systems. I combine hands-on engineering with a strong focus on performance, security, and real-world deployment.

In web development, I’ve developed and maintained corporate websites using WordPress, building responsive experiences, managing plugins/themes, and improving site security and performance. I also built internal ERP and admin dashboards with Django, React, including real-time form workflows, state handling, and REST-connected UI for staff operations.

On the engineering side, I’ve delivered AI research-to-application work. For federated dermatology screening, I architected a privacy-preserving pipeline using PyTorch, PyTorch Geometric, Transformers, FastAPI, and Docker, including FedAvg-style federated learning and a compressed 1.46 MB INT8 TensorFlow Lite model targeting < 90 ms mobile inference. I also used neuro-symbolic reasoning via a dermatology knowledge graph to ground recommendations and reduce hallucinations.

I’ve also built an IoT security intrusion detection platform using Deep Q-Learning, self-supervised learning, and knowledge distillation, with Dockerized FastAPI inference APIs and an interactive dashboard. Earlier, I supported systems administration and software development as an ICT intern, and I won first prize at the Uganda Communications Commission national conference by building a curriculum tracking platform using Django and React.
