Juan Espinosa

At Instituto Caro y Cuervo, I lead academic transformation across education, culture, research, and social impact. As Subdirector Académico, I have guided multidisciplinary teams and institutional innovation since 2016.

During an appointment as Director General (E), I led strategic negotiations with Colombia’s Ministry of Culture and National Planning Department. The resulting National Development Plan provision secured ICC’s institutional redesign and doubled its annual budget from USD 3.6 million to USD 7.2 million for 2024.

I have created four master’s programs, founded ICC’s Glotopolitics research line, and advanced Digital Humanities through corpus linguistics and natural-language-processing applications. My work also includes audiovisual documentation of languages and repositories aligned with international standards.

With international experience across Colombia, the United States, and Spain, I bring a global perspective to multicultural teams, strategic partnerships, and educational innovation. I’m motivated by opportunities to strengthen learning, research, culture, and social engagement at scale.
