@jennamartin
Experienced ASL interpreter and educator dedicated to student success.
I am an experienced American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and educator with a strong commitment to supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students. With over 11 years of experience in ASL interpretation and a master’s degree in special education focused on deaf education, I have developed a robust skill set in providing individualized instruction and accessibility accommodations. My goal is to foster inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive.
Currently, I teach core subjects to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades 6–8 at Roanoke City Public Schools. My previous roles include serving as a classroom educational interpreter and teaching assistant, where I facilitated access to educational accommodations for younger students. I have also gained valuable experience through various educational interpreter roles across multiple school districts, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically.
Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to advocacy and collaboration with educators to enhance the learning experience for deaf students. I believe in the importance of creating a supportive and engaging classroom environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.
