What I'm looking for
As a passionate special education teacher at Folwell Elementary Community School, I am committed to assessing students' needs and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to diverse learning styles. My experience includes co-teaching 2nd grade, where I provide specialized instruction in math, literacy, and social skills. I believe in fostering an inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.
In my previous role as a Due Process Interpreter, I advocated for students and their families by translating important documents and facilitating communication during IEP meetings. My dedication to supporting students with disabilities has been recognized through awards such as Employee of the Month. I am also proficient in both English and Somali, which allows me to bridge communication gaps and ensure that all families are informed and involved in their child's education.
