Javier Arias
@javierarias
Computer Science student and web developer specializing in data visualization and accessible web solutions.
What I'm looking for
I am a Computer Science undergraduate with strong web development and data-visualization experience, currently working as a student web developer at my university. I focus on building accessible, well-designed sites and interactive visualizations that make research data usable for diverse audiences.
In my current role I maintain and update a university research website, collaborate with research teams, and apply institutional accessibility and optimization standards. I develop interactive visualizations using Shiny and Plotly (Python) to present large linguistic datasets in user-friendly formats.
My project work includes building a Python text-adventure game with modular design, configuring a Linux-based retro game server with streaming and VPN tunneling, and implementing a BMI calculator app in Dart with Figma-designed interfaces. These projects demonstrate practical skills in debugging, system setup, networking, UI translation, and validation logic.
I bring proficiency in Python, C/C++, JavaScript, SQL, Dart, HTML/CSS, Git, and Linux, plus a foundation in data structures, OOP, and Agile/SCRUM. I communicate fluently in English and Spanish and seek opportunities to contribute to accessible, data-driven web products.
