Jason Lam
@jasonlam
Mechanical engineering background delivering lifecycle-focused designs and logistics solutions.
What I'm looking for
I am a mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in engineering drawings, obsolescence analysis, and integrated logistics support across defence and maritime sectors. I have progressed from technical roles in the Department of Defence to engineering and logistics positions at BAE Systems, Providence Consulting Group, Team Downer and Babcock Australasia, consistently contributing to maintenance prediction, documentation and systems reproduction projects.
At Babcock I create and update engineering drawings and assess replacement parts to manage obsolescence; previously I reproduced a ship's seawater distribution system into computer-based models to enable multi-scenario simulation and supported in‑field trials to inform decision making. My background includes life‑cycle cost analysis, technical documentation development and reliability prediction for shipboard systems.
I complement my engineering foundation with practical software skills (GIMP, Inkscape, Microsoft Office including VBA, Notion, Slack) and marketing/data certifications in email and digital channels. I am motivated to apply systems-thinking and logistics expertise to roles that value engineering rigour, lifecycle management and clear technical communication.
