Ian Mahuthu

I am a counselling psychologist committed to supporting clients through active listening, empathy, and evidence-based strategies. Currently I work under supervision delivering individual and group counselling with a strong focus on client-centered care.

During my internship at Thika Level 5 Hospital I conducted over 50 client intakes and accumulated over 1,000 hours of counselling sessions, while participating in clinical supervision and multidisciplinary case discussions. I also volunteered extensively as a cultural liaison, helping bridge communication gaps in community programs.

My training includes a Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Mount Kenya University with a 3.5 GPA, and I have completed peer counselling and leadership training recognized by the university. I document clinical work through case note writing and use Microsoft Office and Google Workspace for practice management.

I bring strong crisis management, time management, team collaboration, and communication skills, and I seek opportunities to continue growing clinically while contributing to accessible, culturally sensitive mental health services.
