Hakan BOZDOĞAN

I am a Professor at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Technical Sciences, in the Plant Protection Program. My academic path includes a Post-Doc at the University of Oxford (Biology) and a PhD in Biology, with a research focus that connects insect systematics to ecological and agricultural needs.

My work has centered on insect taxonomy and morphological/functional traits, with particular emphasis on Neuroptera (Planipennia), including faunal studies and detailed examinations of genital and life-stage characteristics. I also supervised graduate research, including a completed master’s thesis on genital structures of Neuroptera (Myrmeleontidae) family members.

I lead and contribute to funded research projects spanning regional insect diversity, biogeography, and biodiversity in relation to environment and ecosystems. I have also worked within international and interdisciplinary initiatives that include EU-aligned ecosystem services and emerging approaches such as “Insect AI—Using Image-based AI for Insect Monitoring & Conservation.”

Alongside my research and teaching responsibilities, I served as Director of Research and the Çevre Sorunları Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi (2015–2018) and participated in academic review and commission roles. I am especially motivated by translating strong biological evidence into sustainable practice, reflected in repeated TÜBİTAK international scientific publication incentives and academic success recognition.
