Gustavo Dutra
@gustavodutra
Bilingual content editor and proofreader specializing in English–Portuguese translation and subtitling for clear, consistent writing.
What I'm looking for
I’m a detail-oriented bilingual editor with a background in journalism, focused on clarity, structure, and consistency in written content. I bring a translator’s ear and an editor’s discipline to every line, whether it’s academic writing, opinion pieces, or video subtitles.
My freelance experience includes proofreading and editorial revision of academic essays and opinion articles prior to press submission, improving clarity and consistency while strengthening grammar, formatting, and argument flow. I also translate English-language articles into Portuguese for discussion groups, adapting tone and phrasing for readability and the intended audience. For video work, I create and synchronize subtitles using Subtitle Edit, handling timing, segmentation, and readability end-to-end.
I’ve also supported document coordination and administrative workflows within a public institution, including internal distribution of official documents and legal processes, and registered and routed correspondence through tracking systems. Currently, I’m seeking remote opportunities in editing, proofreading, content review, subtitling, and localization, as well as documentation support in deadline-driven environments.
