Gabriele Bonadiman
@gabrielebonadiman
Staff Backend Engineer specializing in distributed systems, real-time ingestion, and reliable AI/voice integrations.
What I'm looking for
I am a Staff-level Backend and Platform Engineer with 9+ years spent stabilizing distributed systems, building reliable ingestion pipelines, and reducing operational risk in production environments. I focus on correctness, determinism, and maintainability under real constraints — real-time APIs, asynchronous workflows, voice integrations, and analytics tied directly to revenue or user experience.
My strongest work has been in roles where data integrity and reliability matter more than velocity. I have redesigned ingestion flows for fintech platforms using Adjust, AppsFlyer, and Singular to eliminate silent mismatches, prevent duplicated cost events, and protect attribution metrics. My work typically combines architecture and pragmatism: identify ambiguous assumptions, codify invariants, and introduce guardrails that make failures observable, deterministic, and recoverable.
I enjoy environments where the system is complex enough that small mistakes scale into large incidents. In those contexts my strengths emerge: isolating side effects, enforcing idempotence, building retry envelopes, and designing transparent failure contracts. When failures happen, I want incident response to be boring and reproducible, not guesswork.
Beyond backend engineering, I build voice-first AI tools. I designed real-time orchestration for a speech-to-speech agent that receives calls, manages context, and delivers structured post-call summaries. For industrial and internal use cases, I have built streaming dialog orchestration, context memory, and latency-aware pipelines that allow hands-free interaction with technical systems.
I mentor engineers through debugging strategies, code review standards, and clarity of architecture. I value solutions that are easy to reason about, safe to roll out, and inexpensive to maintain in the long term. Tools and languages I use regularly include TypeScript, NodeJS, Go, AWS (ECS, Lambda, SQS, ALB, VPC), Pulumi/Terraform, PostgreSQL, Redis, and streaming APIs.

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Senior Backend Engineer
Lumenalta
Jan 2022 - Present (3 years 11 months)
Architected and led the design and delivery of a scalable NodeJS + PostgreSQL backend for a B2B platform. Integrated GoLang and Solidity modules into a blockchain identity system and delivered architectural designs for scalable backend features. Mentored interns, contributing to team growth and internal documentation standards.
GoLang Backend Engineer
Filtered
Nov 2020 - Present (5 years 1 month)
Built and maintained microservices for a smart learning platform, optimizing content delivery. Owned the DevOps pipeline and infrastructure using AWS Fargate, Docker, and GitHub Actions. Managed AWS infrastructure and contributed to a full Terraform migration for improved IaaC reliability.
Backend Software Engineer
Endeavour Streaming
Aug 2019 - Present (6 years 4 months)
Managed 9 microservices responsible for encoding and distributing global VoD content. Spearheaded a company-wide testing framework used across multiple teams. Collaborated with DevOps to modernize deployments and move from Ansible to Terraform, working with high-traffic distribution systems via Akamai CDN and Java 11.
Backend Engineer
Hulgrave
Jul 2018 - Present (7 years 5 months)
Built backend services from scratch for a fintech analytics startup, designing AWS-based microservices and a serverless architecture. Deployed secure financial tools integrating with major banks. Led DevOps setup including Docker, CI pipelines, and monitoring systems.
Full Stack Engineer
Atlas
Aug 2016 - Present (9 years 4 months)
Developed a lead generation platform from initial design to production, building both web and mobile versions. Maintained legacy projects and contributed to a microservice-based architecture using JHipster. Deployed on AWS EC2 with MongoDB and HTTPS-enabled Eureka communication.

Bachelor Degree, Computer Science
2012 - 2015
Grade: 92
Activities and societies: I earned my Computer Science degree with a strong focus on software engineering and networks. I won a national contest for an Android app I designed and built, ranking first among hundreds of submissions. This project was later featured in several tech blogs and earned university recognition.
My best grades were in algorithms, networking, and programming language semantics. I was especially drawn to systems-level thinking and performance optimization. I enjoyed dissecting compiler theory and low-level protocols just as much as building real-world software.
