Remote work in numerical and scientific computing — finite element solvers, simulation, performance-critical C/C++. Sole author of KATAI 2D, an open-source FE platform with +150 regression tests; also wrote a compiler, a 32-bit OS and an LLM inference library in pure C. Based in İzmir (UTC+3), not relocating. Looking for genuinely worldwide roles, full-time remote or contract.

What I'm looking for
I write numerical and systems software — the kind where the answer has to be correct, not merely plausible.
I'm the sole author of KATAI 2D, a geotechnical finite element platform: plane-strain and axisymmetric analysis, staged construction, consolidation and Newmark dynamics, with 119 automated regression tests that reproduce published and closed-form results within stated tolerance bands. It's archived with a DOI.
I also wrote Nerve, an LLM inference and on-device learning library in pure C — single header, zero dependencies, running TinyLlama-1.1B on a 2017 laptop CPU and compiling to a 65 KB WebAssembly module. Before that, a compiler and a 32-bit operating system, both from scratch.
WHAT I DO
- Numerical and scientific computing: FEM, sparse linear algebra, nonlinear solvers, constitutive models, performance-critical C and C++
- Engineering automation: turning spreadsheet calculations into tested, versioned tools; CSV/Excel/JSON pipelines; reporting
- Debugging hard failures — particularly the class where code reports success and the answer is wrong. In KATAI I verify every linear solve against the system it claims to solve, because a sparse direct solver confronted with a rank-deficient tangent will perturb its pivots, report success, and return a vector that satisfies nothing.
- Refactoring legacy numerical code without changing what it computes Languages: C, C++ (modern and ANSI), Python, Rust. Reading proficiency in Go and TypeScript.
HOW I WORK
I ask about your problem before I quote. Fixed scope, milestone-based delivery, source code and a short handover document included. If I don't think a job is worth doing, I'll say so.
Send me the details and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it.

Software Engineer
Nerve
Mar 2022 - Present (4 years 5 months)
Run a real LLM, sentence embeddings and on-device learning in pure C - one header, zero dependencies. TinyLlama-1.1B on a 2017 laptop CPU; the same code as a 65 KB WebAssembly module in your browser. Deterministic, auditable, embeddable anywhere C compiles.
Software Engineer
KATAI 2D
Aug 2023 - Present (3 years)
Developed KATAI 2D, an open-source geotechnical finite element platform, as sole author. Verified it with +150 automated regression tests reproducing published and closed-form benchmarks; results land within 0.3–1.4% of the analytical solutions on three of four Validation Manual cases. Engine open-sourced and DOI-archived.
Control Engineer
Kent Building Inspection
Dec 2025 - Jul 2026 (7 months)
Control engineer under Turkish Building Inspection Law No. 4708.
- Site inspections and construction-phase approvals across concurrent residential and commercial projects
- Concrete and steel sampling, coordination with accredited laboratories, evaluation of test results
- Progress-payment tracking and formal correspondence with municipalities and provincial authorities
Technical Writer
MakeUseOf
Apr 2022 - Apr 2024 (2 years)
Two years of paid technical writing for a professional audience. In-depth articles on Linux internals and system security, explaining complex mechanisms precisely and clearly.
Vulnerability research on web applications, APIs and network systems, with detailed technical reporting.
Independent security research on web applications and APIs. High-severity findings reported with reproduction steps and root-cause analysis.
