Facundo Martiarena

I’m a Senior Backend Software Engineer with 5+ years designing high-criticality systems in Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs. I’m currently leading a mission-critical financial platform at the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU) that integrates with every banking entity in the country.

I architect and evolve Java/Spring Boot services focused on stability, auditability, and regulatory compliance. I design secure REST APIs and orchestrate integrations between legacy internal systems and modern external services, with a strong security-first development mindset.

I also drive continuous improvement on my team—pushing for stronger documentation, a code-review culture, and an Agile approach. Daily, I use Claude and ChatGPT for code review, refactoring, and technical writing to accelerate repetitive patterns.

Before BCU, I worked at Koin as a Software Developer, maintaining polyglot backend services (Java, Kotlin, Python) for high-traffic production environments. I led large-scale refactoring, performed root-cause analysis on incidents, and prioritized uptime and performance. Earlier, as Server Section Lead in the Uruguayan Air Force, I managed high-security infrastructure and led technical teams through incident response while ensuring operational continuity under pressure.
