Daniel Bernstein

I’m a full-stack software engineer and former founder who enjoys owning problems from “we need a better way to do this” through production.

At Luther Automotive Group, I build and support applications used across an organization of roughly 5,000 employees. My work spans C#/.NET, React/Next.js, JavaScript, SQL, APIs, data modeling, and production support, but some of my favorite work happens before the code is written: working directly with business leaders and users to understand how they actually work and turning those problems into practical software.

One of my favorite projects was a vehicle reconditioning platform I helped take from discovery through production. I worked directly with operational leaders to understand a workflow spanning multiple departments, translated it into the product and technical design, and helped build the resulting full-stack application. It replaced an established commercial platform, became part of daily operations, and now saves the organization approximately $500,000 per year.

Before becoming an engineer, I spent ten years building and operating my own business from the ground up through its eventual acquisition. That experience still shapes how I approach software: I care about the customer, the business problem, and whether what we build actually delivers value.

I’m especially interested in roles where engineering is paired with product ownership, customer collaboration, and meaningful autonomy. I use AI daily as part of my development workflow, and I’m always interested in learning new technologies when they’re the right tools for the problem.
