What I'm looking for
I am a technically oriented troubleshooter, problem solver, maintainer, and trainer with experience spanning aviation, tech support, satellite TV broadcast, computer tech, maintenance, light construction, and training management. A consistent theme throughout my career has been tackling complicated subjects or problems, breaking them into manageable parts, determining what needs to be done, and then organizing, troubleshooting, teaching or implementing solutions.
A important part of my career was nearly twelve years as a Canadian Armed Forces commissioned officer, instructor, and training leader. I administered training programs, taught general and specialized subjects including aeronautics, led training groups, provided train-the-trainer instruction, and served as a Commanding Officer and field expedition team leader. I particularly enjoy making technical material understandable to others.
I also have extensive technical-support experience. As lead Broadcast Support Specialist and a Computer & Network Technician for Accessible Media Inc., I supported a completely digital satellite broadcast environment involving computer and server systems, broadcast automation, networking, digital media workflows, specialized equipment, installation, configuration, maintenance, remote monitoring, troubleshooting, integration, and local/remote support.
Earlier aviation work included computer support, technical writing, aircraft maintenance program organization, and regulatory publication creation. My aviation education includes Aviation & Flight Technology and Aircraft Maintenance, with training in commercial aeronautics, radio, airframes, engines, electrical/electronic systems, troubleshooting, failure isolation, avionics, and structure repair.
I am not a current IT-certified specialist. My strength is practical troubleshooting: isolating and defining problems, separating symptoms from causes, identifying missing information, researching unfamiliar subjects, and methodically finding solutions as they extend my foundation. I enjoy technical challenges and learning whatever is necessary to solve them in mission-critical settings. I also enjoy organizing and maintaining things, establishing workable processes, and keeping systems and information reliable.
I am seeking fully remote online work as a contractor, project worker, or pool/subcontract employee, particularly in technical support, troubleshooting, research, investigation, training, instructional support, documentation, quality/task review, data/content work, or system/process organization.
My objective is dependable remote income with enough flexibility to allow continued development of my ongoing independent e-commerce business. I value adaptability, independent thinking, accuracy, technical curiosity, and the ability to complete objectives with minimal supervision. Give me a task, and I will work with you, in a team, or independently, to get it done.
