Entry-level CAE-focused mechanical engineer blending simulation and Python automation for evidence-based design.
What I'm looking for
I’m an MSc Mechanical Engineering graduate targeting graduate mechanical design, CAE, simulation, and product-development roles in London. My strongest current capability is CAE, computational modelling, programming, and evidence-based design evaluation.
I translate requirements into parameterised design logic and evaluate performance with finite element modelling, simulation, and reference-design comparison. I use sensitivity studies to understand behaviour and limitations, then iterate toward practical design improvements.
I build reproducible workflows using Python and scientific/engineering tools, including MATLAB, Abaqus, STAR-CCM+, and Granta EduPack. I also support documentation and reporting with LaTeX and structured technical write-ups, backed by version-controlled code.
In my helmet master’s thesis, I developed a Python helmet-design program that generates parameterised geometry, validates against a prescribed helmet, and improves designs iteratively. In a reactor modelling project, I used Python with the WYVERN finite element transport framework to simulate neutron flux distribution and run sensitivity studies on model parameters.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
MSc Mechanical Engineering
University College London
Sep 2024 - Sep 2025 (1 year)
Developed an automated Python design tool for a biomedical helmet application by translating clinical/geometric requirements into modular, parameterised geometry logic and validating against a prescribed helmet to guide iterative improvements. Produced reproducible modelling/automation workflows and maintained the public helmet program repository (helmetpy) for future use.
BEng Mechanical Engineering
Queen Mary University of London
Sep 2021 - May 2024 (2 years 8 months)
Built foundations in mechanical design and numerical methods and applied simulation and material-selection workflows using STAR-CCM+, Granta EduPack, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python. Completed system modelling and numerical analysis work to support evidence-based engineering evaluation.
Education
Degrees, certifications, and relevant coursework
University College London
Master of Science, Mechanical Engineering
2024 - 2025
Activities and societies: Master’s thesis: developed an automated Python helmet-design tool for biomedical application with parameterised geometry, validation vs prescribed helmet, and iterative improvement; used GitHub repository for the tool.
Completed an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, applying Python and MATLAB to engineering simulation, finite element workflows, and modelling for research development. Managed an individual research project spanning literature review, design development, validation, planning, and written reporting.
Queen Mary University of London
Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
2021 - 2024
Activities and societies: Third-year project: built a finite element reactor model using Python and the WYVERN transport framework, ran sensitivity studies, and documented results with Linux/HPC workflows and LaTeX reporting.
Earned a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, building foundations in mechanical design, materials, numerical methods, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and systems modelling. Used STAR-CCM+, Granta EduPack, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python for simulation, material selection, system modelling, and numerical analysis.
