Chelsi-Rae Buckley

I’m an environmental scientist and researcher specializing in nuclear techniques, marine research, and sustainable resource use. I translate complex science into actionable insights for blue economy initiatives through clear, technical communication and stakeholder engagement.

As a Senior Scientific Officer, I apply quality management systems to improve efficiency and compliance with international standards. I also prepare technical reports and briefing materials, maintain relationships with key stakeholders, support national and regional ocean health and marine pollution monitoring initiatives, and coordinate outreach efforts and tours with SIT and schools.

Earlier, as a Scientific Officer and later Head of Seaweed Research and Development at Kee Farms, I performed irradiation and analysis of environmental samples using Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA), Direct Mercury Analysis (DMA), and Reflection X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). I supported data management and reporting through traceable monitoring logs, designed sustainable seaweed farming systems, and led workshops and community outreach to strengthen conservation and sustainable fishing and seaweed farming practices.
