Brian Palma
@brianpalma
I’m a senior backend developer specializing in Java microservices and scalable, clean-code systems.
What I'm looking for
I’m a software engineer with more than 17 years of experience building enterprise and financial systems, grounded in strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and SOLID principles. I focus on backend development with Java and scalable architectures, while bringing additional experience from frontend development with Angular and TypeScript.
As a Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend) at Fiserv / Infinite (2021–Present), I develop high-availability financial backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot. I build REST APIs and microservices with Dependency Injection and repository patterns, practice Test-Driven Development (TDD) with JUnit and code coverage, and support systems used by more than 25 banks in the United States.
I’ve also contributed across the full product lifecycle and platforms at CATIE as a Full Stack Developer / Systems Coordinator (2020–2021) and previously as a Software Developer / IT Support (2009–2019). I worked with Angular/TypeScript and Java/C#, coordinated institutional technology solutions, and served as a Master’s degree lecturer in ICT for sustainable agribusiness.
I’m a practitioner of software craftsmanship: clean code, thoughtful peer code review, and maintainable design. Daily, I use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to improve productivity and debugging quality, alongside DevOps and observability practices with Harness, Linux, Splunk, and Dynatrace.
