Bivash Sinha

At the Department of Biotechnology, National Institute of Technology Durgapur, I investigate how small noncoding RNAs regulate the H. pylori virulence gene cagA. I study RNA–RNA and RNA–protein interactions using EMSA, alongside qRT-PCR and reporter-based assays.

My research includes constructing knockout and overexpression strains and validating them with PCR, Western blot, and phenotypic assays. I also run structural bioinformatics workflows, including AlphaFold2 modeling, molecular docking, and MD simulation.

I write and revise scientific content on bacterial gene regulation and biofilm genetics, including review articles and a book chapter. I’m currently preparing point-by-point responses to four peer reviewers on a review manuscript.

I’ve supervised or co-supervised nine undergraduate and Master’s students on RNA biology and bacterial genetics projects. My earlier M.Sc. dissertation assessed air pollution tolerance indices of tree species in Santiniketan through biochemical and physiological assays.
