BEN BEN WHITLEY
@benbenwhitley
Senior software engineer building secure, scalable cloud-native platforms for healthcare and identity.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer / Architect with 11+ years of experience designing and delivering secure, scalable applications across healthcare, insurance, and provider portals. I focus on performance, reliability, and security while modernizing systems from legacy stacks to cloud-native architectures.
At Microsoft, I modernized .NET Framework 4.x/VB6 into .NET 6–9 microservices deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), improving deployment reliability and scalability. I’ve built enterprise-grade APIs and backend services with .NET and C#, and designed secure REST/gRPC services for identity/eligibility, provider onboarding, transaction auditing, and healthcare analytics.
I bring deep CRM and enterprise integration experience, especially with Microsoft Dynamics 365—developing C# plugins, workflow extensions, and JavaScript form/ribbon customizations. I also served as a technical SME and single point of contact for CRM solution design reviews, governance approvals, and performance discussions.
I’m hands-on with modern frontend architecture too, delivering micro-frontends with Angular, React, and Next.js, plus full-stack features using C#, .NET, TypeScript, and responsive UI frameworks. I also integrate AI/ML capabilities (Python, LLMs, RAG) and lead architecture decisions in agile environments, mentoring teams to deliver mission-critical outcomes.

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Modernized legacy .NET Framework/VB6 systems into .NET microservices deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), improving deployment reliability and scalability. Built secure backend services and CRM/Dynamics 365 integrations, and implemented AI/ML-enabled features and event-driven pipelines for healthcare claims and provider workflows.
Engineered ASP.NET Core APIs and backend services for healthcare benefits and compliance reporting, integrating secure REST and batch workflows. Developed Angular SPAs, modernized JavaScript to TypeScript, and optimized SQL performance while building automated data transformation and nightly reconciliation jobs.
