Adesola Adesioye
@adesolaadesioye
Flood risk and geospatial specialist blending hydraulic modelling, GIS, and ML projects.
What I'm looking for
I’m a flood risk and geospatial specialist with a PhD in Environmental Science focused on coastal flood vulnerability, backed by five years of applied flood risk experience for UK local authorities. I deliver commissioned groundwater and surface-water flood projects by combining 1D–2D hydraulic and hydrodynamic modelling (TELEMAC-2D/3D, HEC-RAS) with advanced GIS and remote sensing, then translate results into decision-ready flood hazard, exposure, and vulnerability outputs.
I strengthen technical work with probabilistic and machine learning methods—especially Bayesian Network modelling and scenario/threshold-dynamics approaches—and communicate clearly through technical report writing, peer-reviewed publications, and stakeholder engagement (household surveys and key-informant interviews). I also teach and supervise research across GIS and environmental science, keeping my outputs practical, reproducible, and aligned with client and project deadlines.

Research Assistant (Flood Risk)
Flood Hazard Research Centre, Middlesex University
Jan 2025 - Present (1 year 6 months)
Deliver commissioned flood risk projects for UK local authority clients, including developing Bayesian Network models for groundwater flood risk assessment. Co-authored the Multi-Coloured Manual case study investigation report and led a conceptual framework report linking flooding to mental health impacts.
Doctoral Researcher - Coastal Flood
Flood Hazard Research Centre, Middlesex University
Jan 2022 - Jan 2026 (4 years)
Developed a machine learning framework integrating Earth observation, geospatial, census, and household-survey data to quantify coastal flood vulnerability profiles for the Lekki Peninsula, Lagos. Designed and conducted household surveys and key-informant interviews in flood-affected coastal communities, supported by a PTDF scholarship and a UK Government Turing Scheme grant.
Visiting Researcher
African Regional Centre for Space Science & Technology
Jan 2024 - Present (2 years 6 months)
Applied hydrodynamic simulation and scenario modelling to assess flood hazards and critical-infrastructure disruption, integrating satellite and in-situ data.
