Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Wildfire Prevention Program Director to lead innovative initiatives aimed at reducing wildfire risks and enhancing community resilience. In this role, you will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive wildfire prevention strategies, leveraging data-driven insights and collaborative partnerships to drive impactful change.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a multi-year strategic plan for wildfire prevention, incorporating stakeholder input and best practices from the field.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of community engagement programs, ensuring effective communication and education regarding wildfire risks.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of prevention initiatives, analyzing data to inform continuous improvement.
- Foster partnerships with governmental agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to promote integrated wildfire management efforts.
- Advocate for policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels to enhance wildfire prevention funding and resources.
- Oversee budget preparation and management for wildfire prevention programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fiscal responsibility.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in program management, environmental science, or related fields, with a focus on wildfire prevention or disaster management.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful programs that address complex environmental challenges.
- Strong understanding of wildfire ecology, prevention strategies, and community resilience frameworks.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations in wildfire management.
- Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising strategies to support program initiatives.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) and data analysis tools for wildfire risk assessment.
- Experience with project management software to track progress and outcomes.
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software and predictive analytics.
