Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Lead Veterinary Surgery Technologist to join our innovative veterinary team. In this fully remote role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing surgical care for animals by leveraging your technical expertise and leadership skills to mentor fellow veterinary technicians, drive best practices in surgical procedures, and ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the surgical team, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of surgical services
- Develop, implement, and refine surgical protocols and procedures, in collaboration with veterinarians and other stakeholders
- Provide training and mentorship to junior veterinary technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, sterile techniques, and post-operative care
- Conduct regular audits of surgical procedures and outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive surgical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall patient care and operational efficiency
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a veterinary surgical technologist or equivalent role
- Certification as a veterinary technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT)
- Proven expertise in surgical assistance and anesthesia monitoring
- Strong knowledge of veterinary surgical procedures, equipment, and protocols
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment
Preferred:
- Leadership experience in a veterinary or surgical setting
- Advanced certifications in veterinary technology or surgery
- Experience with telemedicine or remote surgical consultations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of veterinary surgical equipment and monitoring devices
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and telemedicine platforms
- Knowledge of anesthesia protocols and pain management strategies
