Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tugboat Captain to join our maritime operations team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Command tugboats to assist in the navigation and maneuvering of larger vessels, ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and safety standards.
- Conduct pre-voyage inspections, ensuring that all equipment is operational and that safety protocols are followed.
- Coordinate with port authorities, marine pilots, and other stakeholders to optimize vessel movements and reduce turnaround times.
- Oversee the crew's performance, providing training and guidance to ensure a high standard of operational safety and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate logs of vessel movements, weather conditions, and operational incidents, reporting any issues to management as required.
- Respond to emergency situations with prompt and effective action to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of crew and vessels.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Captain's license issued by the U.S. Coast Guard or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience as a Tugboat Captain or in a similar maritime role.
- Proven knowledge of navigation, maritime laws, safety regulations, and vessel operations.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Preferred:
- Experience with diesel engines and other marine machinery.
- Familiarity with advanced navigation systems and technology.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using radar, GPS, and other navigational tools.
- Knowledge of marine communication systems and protocols.
- Experience with safety equipment and emergency response procedures.
