Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Tug Captain to join our maritime operations team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient navigation of our tugboats, assisting larger vessels during docking and undocking procedures, and contributing to the overall safety of our marine operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and navigate tugboats in a safe and efficient manner, following all maritime regulations and company policies
- Assist in berthing and unberthing operations, ensuring the safety and stability of both the tugboat and the assisted vessels
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of tugboat equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Collaborate with senior captains and crew members to execute safe towing and mooring operations
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of tugboat operations and marine safety
- Document all relevant activities, including log entries and maintenance records, to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Valid captain's license as per maritime regulations
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in maritime operations or relevant training
- Strong understanding of navigational principles and marine safety protocols
Preferred:
- Experience operating tugboats in various weather and sea conditions
- Familiarity with port operations and vessel handling techniques
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using navigational instruments such as radar, GPS, and AIS systems
- Knowledge of marine communication systems and protocols
- Basic mechanical skills for performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting
