Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Mate to oversee all deck operations and ensure the safe and efficient navigation of our vessels. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for the management of crew members, maintenance of safety protocols, and compliance with maritime regulations, while also contributing to the strategic planning of voyages and resource allocation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise deck crew, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational procedures
- Assist the Captain in navigation and vessel operations, including route planning and communication with port authorities
- Conduct regular training drills and safety briefings to enhance crew preparedness and response capabilities
- Manage deck inventory and oversee maintenance and repair of equipment and vessels
- Implement and monitor compliance with international maritime laws and regulations
- Act as the primary liaison between the Captain and deck crew, facilitating clear communication and effective teamwork
Required Qualifications
- Unlimited Chief Mate license or equivalent maritime certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role on commercial vessels
- Proven track record of managing diverse teams and fostering a culture of safety and accountability
- Strong knowledge of navigation, safety management systems, and maritime regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dynamic positioning systems and advanced navigation technologies
- Familiarity with environmental management practices and sustainability initiatives in maritime operations
- Previous experience in a fully remote role, demonstrating self-discipline and accountability
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
