Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on truck engines using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and develop effective repair solutions.
- Execute engine repairs, including component replacement, adjustments, and overhauls, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with service advisors and other technicians to prioritize repair orders and manage workflow efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used, labor hours, and warranty information.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to truck engine maintenance and repair.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a truck engine technician with a focus on diagnostics and repair.
- ASE Master Certification in Medium-Heavy Truck and/or Diesel Engines.
- Proficient in using computerized diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Strong understanding of engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting methods and engine performance tuning.
- Familiarity with hybrid and alternative fuel engine technologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, technical manuals, and service bulletins.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep knowledge of truck engine components and systems, including but not limited to Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Caterpillar engines.
- Experience with maintenance management software and electronic service information systems.
- Understanding of emissions regulations and compliance standards relevant to truck engines.
