Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Tow Boat Captain to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the safe navigation and operation of our tow vessels, ensuring compliance with maritime safety regulations while delivering exceptional service to our clients. Your leadership in managing crew members and coordinating with shore operations will be essential to our mission of excellence on the water.
Responsibilities
- Command and operate tow boats in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and safety standards.
- Develop and implement operational plans for vessel movements and towing operations, optimizing routes for efficiency and safety.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vessel's equipment and systems, maintaining compliance with safety regulations and ensuring seaworthiness.
- Lead and train crew members on best practices in navigation, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients, shore personnel, and regulatory agencies to coordinate operations and address any arising issues.
- Prepare and submit accurate logs, reports, and documentation regarding vessel operations, maintenance, and incidents.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- USCG Master’s License (50 GT or greater) and valid STCW certification.
- 5+ years of experience in towing operations and vessel navigation, with a proven track record of safety.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation rules, and emergency protocols.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced towing techniques and equipment.
- Proficient in electronic navigation systems and vessel management software.
- Previous leadership experience in a maritime environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in navigation, seamanship, and maritime safety procedures.
- Familiarity with AIS, VHF radio communication, and other navigation technologies.
- Ability to conduct vessel maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.
