Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chief Topographer to lead our topographic mapping initiatives and drive innovation in our geospatial analysis. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and execution of topographic projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and leverage advanced technologies to enhance our mapping capabilities while ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage topographic survey projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop and implement innovative methodologies for topographic data collection and analysis, utilizing technologies such as LiDAR, photogrammetry, and GIS.
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and planning teams to integrate topographic data into project development processes.
- Establish protocols and best practices for data accuracy, quality control, and project documentation.
- Mentor and train junior topographers and survey technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Stay abreast of advancements in topographic technologies and methodologies, and advocate for their adoption within the organization.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in topographic surveying or geospatial analysis, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
- Master's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Geography, or a related field.
- Expertise in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and survey data processing tools.
- Strong understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and standards in topographic surveying.
Preferred:
- Professional licensure in surveying or geomatics.
- Experience with advanced data collection techniques, such as UAV surveying or 3D modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with various stakeholders.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in topographic survey methodologies and technologies.
- Proficient in using CAD software for drafting and design (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Familiarity with remote sensing technologies and data processing.
