Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Documentation Manager to lead our documentation team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Lead the documentation team in the development, editing, and delivery of technical documentation, including user manuals, API documentation, and system architecture guides
- Establish and uphold documentation standards, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accessibility across all materials
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and user experience teams to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation
- Implement best practices for documentation processes, including version control, user feedback integration, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Mentor and develop the skills of documentation team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
- Conduct regular audits of existing documentation to ensure it remains up-to-date and relevant
- Utilize analytics to assess documentation usage and effectiveness, driving data-informed improvements
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation management, preferably in a technology or software development environment
- Proven experience in leading documentation teams and managing complex documentation projects
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to varied audiences
- Strong understanding of documentation tools and technologies, including Markdown, Javadoc, and Confluence
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to gather information and meet deadlines
Preferred:
- Experience with agile methodologies and familiarity with software development processes
- Knowledge of programming languages or software engineering concepts
- Proficiency in using design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, or similar
- Familiarity with content management systems and version control systems like Git
- Understanding of API documentation tools like Swagger or Postman
