Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Editing Manager to oversee the quality and accuracy of technical documentation across our product lines. This role is essential in ensuring that all technical content meets the highest standards and aligns with our brand voice, enabling our users to understand and effectively utilize our products.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of technical editors, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Review and edit technical documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to company style guidelines.
- Establish and maintain editorial standards and best practices for all technical documentation.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation meets user needs and is delivered on schedule.
- Develop training and resources for the technical editing team to enhance skills and knowledge in industry trends and technologies.
- Conduct regular audits of existing documentation to identify areas for improvement and consistency.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in technical editing or documentation management, preferably in a technology-focused environment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or Confluence.
- Familiarity with software development processes and technical concepts in relevant industries.
- Certification in technical communication or editing is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in technical writing and editing principles, including grammar, style, and formatting.
- Proficient in using various software tools for documentation and editing.
- Experience with structured authoring and XML-based documentation processes.
