Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Student Advising Manager to lead our team in providing exceptional support and guidance to students throughout their academic journey. This role is crucial in creating a supportive environment that fosters student success, retention, and engagement, while leveraging data-driven insights to continuously improve advising practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic advising initiatives that enhance student experience and success metrics
- Oversee the daily operations of the advising team, ensuring effective service delivery and adherence to institutional policies
- Utilize data analytics to track student outcomes and identify areas for improvement in advising practices
- Collaborate with academic departments to ensure alignment of advising services with curricular goals and student needs
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for advising staff to enhance their skills and efficacy
- Serve as a primary point of contact for complex student issues, facilitating resolutions and advocating for student needs
- Foster relationships with campus resources and community partners to support holistic student development
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in academic advising or student services, with demonstrated leadership experience
- Strong understanding of college student development theories and success strategies
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to inform decision-making
Preferred:
- Experience in a managerial role within a higher education environment
- Familiarity with advising technologies and student information systems
- Proven ability to develop and implement training programs for staff
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Experience with student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms
- Strong proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Tableau) for measuring student engagement and outcomes
- Knowledge of academic policies, degree requirements, and student support services
