Role Overview
As a Principal Stress Engineer, you will leverage your extensive expertise in structural analysis and material science to drive innovative solutions in our engineering projects. You will lead complex stress analysis activities, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the structural integrity and performance of our products.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed stress analysis on complex components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement advanced analytical methods, including finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to assess material behavior under various loading conditions.
- Lead project teams in the identification and resolution of structural issues, providing technical guidance and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with design engineers to optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness, while pushing the boundaries of engineering innovation.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Prepare and present technical reports and documentation to stakeholders, clearly communicating findings and recommendations.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in stress analysis within the aerospace or automotive industries.
- Deep expertise in FEA software tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent.
- Proven track record of leading engineering projects and mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of materials science, fatigue analysis, and structural dynamics.
Preferred:
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience with advanced composite materials and their applications in structural engineering.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as FAA, ISO, or AS9100.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in stress analysis and structural design principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for automation and analysis.
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
- Knowledge of thermal analysis and its impact on structural performance.
