Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Director of Special Education to lead our efforts in creating inclusive educational environments that empower students with diverse learning needs. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and implementation of special education programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while fostering a culture of collaboration and support among educators, families, and community partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of special education programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and support staff to enhance instructional practices and accommodate the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Provide training and professional development for staff on best practices in special education and inclusive teaching methodologies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of special education services through data analysis and feedback, making adjustments as needed to improve student outcomes.
- Act as a liaison between families, educators, and external agencies to advocate for students' rights and access to necessary resources.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws regarding special education services and support.
- Manage the special education budget, including allocation of resources and funding proposals.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in special education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or administrative role.
- In-depth knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience with program evaluation and data-driven decision-making.
- Certification in Special Education Administration.
- Experience working in a K-12 educational setting.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using educational technology tools and software for data analysis and student assessment.
- Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs) and related documentation processes.
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
