Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Special Education Director to lead our initiatives in providing exceptional educational opportunities for students with diverse learning needs. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping our special education programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee special education programs that align with state and federal regulations and best practices.
- Lead efforts to assess and evaluate students' needs, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance instructional practices for students with disabilities.
- Provide professional development and training for educators on effective strategies for supporting special education students.
- Monitor student progress and program effectiveness through data analysis and regular evaluations.
- Act as a liaison between parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and support for students.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively to enhance special education services.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in special education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful special education programs.
Preferred:
- Certification in Special Education Administration or Leadership.
- Experience in managing teams and fostering collaborative environments.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with families and community partners.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with special education assessment tools and data management systems.
- Proficient in utilizing educational technology to support diverse learners.
- Experience in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and overseeing their implementation.
