Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this fully remote role, you will play a crucial part in supporting students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive environment, and enhancing educational outcomes through tailored instructional strategies.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with special education teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students, utilizing evidence-based instructional techniques to promote engagement and learning.
- Monitor student progress and adapt instructional methods based on individual performance and feedback.
- Facilitate communication between students, parents, and educators to ensure a cohesive approach to learning.
- Conduct assessments and collect data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth.
- Lead training sessions for other instructional assistants on best practices in special education support.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience working in special education settings, with a focus on instructional support.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience with adaptive technology and assistive devices to support student learning.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and behavioral management strategies.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in educational technology platforms for remote learning and student engagement.
- Experience using data management systems to track student progress and outcomes.
- Knowledge of tools and resources for creating accessible instructional materials.
