Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Paraeducator to join our educational team. This role is crucial in providing support to students with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their academic and personal growth goals. As a Special Education Paraeducator, you will collaborate closely with teachers and specialists to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters independence and confidence in students.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that educational goals are met.
- Support students in daily activities, including classroom instruction, social skills development, and self-care routines.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and specialists to adapt strategies as necessary.
- Facilitate positive interactions among students, promoting teamwork and peer relationships.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization to create an engaging learning environment.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in special education or related fields is preferred.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or higher in special education, psychology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Experience with behavior management techniques and conflict resolution.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using educational software and tools to support learning.
- Ability to adapt technology for students with varying needs.
