Role Overview
We are seeking a Landscape Foreman (Sod) to lead our dynamic team in delivering high-quality landscaping projects. In this role, you will oversee sod installation and maintenance, ensuring that our projects meet both aesthetic and functional standards. You will be responsible for managing crew members, coordinating tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct sod installation projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards
- Manage and mentor a team of landscaping professionals, providing guidance and support to foster skill development
- Coordinate daily tasks and schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely project completion
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate soil conditions, drainage, and other factors impacting sod installation
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices, promoting a safe working environment for all team members
- Communicate effectively with clients, addressing concerns and providing updates on project progress
- Maintain inventory of landscaping materials and equipment, ensuring readiness for upcoming projects
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in landscaping, with a focus on sod installation and maintenance
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing a team in a landscaping or construction environment
- Strong knowledge of horticultural practices and sod varieties suitable for different climates
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and quality
Preferred:
- Certifications related to landscaping or horticulture (e.g., Certified Landscape Technician)
- Experience with irrigation systems and landscape design principles
- Familiarity with operating landscaping equipment such as sod cutters and rollers
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of landscaping tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret landscape design plans and specifications
- Understanding of soil science and drainage solutions
