Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Seismic Engineer to lead critical initiatives in seismic design and analysis. In this role, you will leverage your deep expertise to guide complex projects, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the resilience of our infrastructure against seismic events.
Responsibilities
- Lead the seismic analysis and design of structures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Conduct detailed seismic risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for various projects
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project goals, deliverables, and timelines
- Review and approve seismic design calculations, reports, and specifications
- Stay abreast of advancements in seismic engineering and incorporate best practices into project workflows
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a focus on seismic engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience in seismic analysis and design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and strong knowledge of seismic codes, including ASCE 7 and AISC
- Proven track record in leading complex seismic engineering projects from conception to completion
Preferred:
- PhD in Seismology or Structural Engineering
- Experience with performance-based seismic design and advanced analysis methods
- Familiarity with software tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, and OpenSees
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to seismic engineering
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in seismic analysis methodologies, including linear and nonlinear analysis
- Proficiency in structural modeling and simulation software
- Strong understanding of ground motion characterization and site response analysis
