Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Perioperative Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process. You will play a critical role in the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preoperative assessments to evaluate patients' health status and readiness for surgery
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including educating them about the process and addressing any concerns
- Assist with the administration of anesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs during surgery
- Provide postoperative care, including monitoring recovery, managing pain, and educating patients and families about recovery protocols
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to safety protocols
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation throughout the perioperative process
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree
- 2+ years of experience in a perioperative nursing role or equivalent clinical experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices
Preferred:
- Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is highly desirable
- Experience in a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, cardiac, or neurosurgery
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Demonstrated expertise in perioperative nursing practices and patient assessment
- Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and technologies
- Ability to utilize medical software and EHR platforms for patient documentation
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach
- Adept at working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations
